Research Needs: Smoking Cessation References Introduction Current Practice Rationale Guidelines Questions Method How will research be conducted? To increase our knowledge of how smoking cessation is carried out and differs between countries we suggest a postal questionnaire to primary care physicians in several countries. Questions for primary care physicians – delivery of care in smoking cessation: Do you ask all patients about tobacco use? Do you document smoking status for patients in their charts? Do you advise all tobacco users to quit ? Do you assist all smokers in their quit attempts? If yes, do you offer minimal intervention? Do you offer brief interventions - "5 A's"?
