Treatment: What evidence is there for the safety and efficacy of intermittent systemic steroids in treating rhinitis?

Current guidelines suggest a limited role for systemic steroids in allergic rhinitis. However, a recent systematic review suggested a potentially useful role in those with intermittent but severe rhinitis.5 However, much of the data is not recent in origin and randomised trials focusing on efficacy and safety are now required.
