Allergic rhinitis
Allergic rhinitis can be classified depending on the pattern, frequency and duration of the symptoms ("Intermittent" or "Persistent") depending on the regularity of these facts. In addition classification can be described as 'Mild' or 'Moderate/Severe', depending on the severity and effect on the patient's daily life. Classification of rhinitis determines the treatment needed, however, further research is necessary to clarify the effectiveness of various avoidance measures.1 Whilst guidelines are evidence based and built on solid foundations, questions arise about the practicality of their implementation and whether this truly improves clinical practice and outcomes. Key research methods relate to diagnosis and treatment.
