Development of Measures of Outcome of Interventions in COPD for use in clinical practice
This reflects recommendation 9 of the GOLD Executive Summary.1 There is some difficulty in assessing interventions in COPD because objective measurements of treatment success or failure do not parallel subjective assessment. There is a need therefore to develop methods to measure the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions, as well as benefits of other interventions such as pulmonary rehabilitation and smoking cessation.2
