Treatment: Can a control score aid the management of asthma?

Structured questionnaires to be filled in by the patients or by the health care professional can be used to quantify or score patients' reports of their different asthma symptoms over a period of time. Many such questionnaires have been developed but few have as yet been validated as individual asthma assessment tools.1 The requirement for research in this area is of high priority and after developing a control score, its efficacy in providing best management should be tested. By using different key elements in asthma care, it is possible to produce different score systems and the best one should be identified through research on this area.
