Treatment: In real-life in mild asthma and intermittent asthma what is the relative effectiveness of different controller therapies?

In comparison to anti-leukotrienes which also have an anti-inflammatory mode of action, efficacy trials in moderate asthma suggest inhaled glucocorticosteroids (ICSs) have better outcomes, although whether this is true in mild or intermittent asthma or in situations of normal compliance is debated.15 The comparison of ICS and anti-leukotriene drugs with regards to efficacy, airway remodelling, exacerbations, compliance and side-effects would also be a useful study, especially considering that anti-leukotrienes have better patient compliance.16
