The IPCRG publishes here the second in its series of Exchanges that meets our members’ needs to share and compare primary care respiratory practice and belief across the world.

Asthma Guidelines 2008 shares international primary care reflections on the use and impact of new and updated guidelines. Hailing from 11 countries on 4 continents, 11 PCPs and 2 patient representatives participated in interviews, following a structured questionnaire. The aims were to understand how the latest guideline updates are being received and accepted in primary care globally, and to assess how useful they are to busy working PCPs.

The first in the Exchanges series, Children with Asthma, provides an international primary care and patient response to Professor Ulrich Wahn’s and colleagues’ contention that children are not small adults and therefore there should be discrete guidelines for managing children with asthma, and that there should be more specific research on children with asthma.
