The IPCRG Fourth World Conference, Seville, Spain 28 - 31 May 2008 Highlights of Seville
Report by IPCRG web editor Hetty van Dijk Report on Seville Conference in Horizons in respiratory medicine Horizons in respiratory medicine is a free, quarterly newsletter, Guest Edited by Professor Neil Barnes (Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine, St Bartholomew's, London), that offers readers a summary of the events that have taken place at recent respiratory congresses around the world. The content consists of news articles and feature stories in contrast to the research-level reviews published in The International Journal of COPD. Volume 1, Issue 4 includes a review of our meeting in Seville as well as a review of 2008 ATS. For Mac users, user Firefox and RealPlayer). “With regard to the meeting, it was a very relevant conference excellently organized. The scientific and exchange level was to the top. Now I am still more proud than before for my (and AIMEF) membership in the IPCRG.” Antonio Infantino, Italy “Seville made it clear that IPCRG is expanding rapidly with its very strong and devoted commitment for the people suffering from respiratory diseases.” Monsur Habib, Bangladesh Feedback from the conference has been uniformly positive. We had 932 registrations from over 40 countries – double the size of previous meetings! We had a great conference with the now-typical mix of high quality real-life research, challenging debate and wit. There is a tremendous sense of camaraderie and global interest developing amongst the IPCRG community. This was enhanced in Seville by the attendance of delegates from many low and middle income countries and by excellent simultaneous translation that enabled our Hispanic-speaking colleagues to participate equally. We hope that Miguel Roman, the Chair of the Conference Organising Committee and his team can now relax a little. Alan Kaplan and his team have now accepted the IPCRG conference torch that they will carry to Toronto May 2010. |
